It’s Saturday, a day set aside for resting on one’s laurels, right? NOT!
Get up! Get awake! The fat’s about to hit the fire! Them chickens is coming home to roast (sic)! The chocolate pudding is about to hit the fan (and they wonder why I won’t eat choco pudding)! But first, can someone tell me how it is that Brian Williams is still on the air? Seriously. How many times do you have to be publicly disgraced before you vanish into the ether? Anyone? Anyone? So, this morning I catch a video on MSNBC, a channel whose content I’ve watched only a handful of times over the years. The content of the segment was initially lost on me as I contemplated how the Bona Fide King of Fake News (makes it up as he goes along and then convinces himself that it’s real) is still on air. But I digress… What Bruh Williams was yammering about on air was a report released late Friday night by that last bastion of great liberal print media, The New York Times. The report quotes anonymous sources (Fearless Leader will have a field day with this) as saying that Trump was under investigation by the F.B.I. following his firing of James Comey. The concern here was that Fearless Leader was perhaps being influenced and directed by foreign agents. In this case, the Russians. There was, of course, a criminal concern that Comey’s firing constituted obstruction of justice, but the influence by Russians over Trump thing is a very big deal. So, what that comes down to is F.B.I. counterintelligence agents were reportedly investigating a sitting U.S. president. Again, this is a HUGE deal. I can tell you, from some experience, that if you get counterintelligence types from any agency looking over your shoulder to figure out what the hell you’ve really been up to…you’re screwed…even if you’ve done nothing. The stench of a CI investigation is difficult to shake. It means someone thinks they have something on you and it’s only a matter of time before they pick the remaining flesh off your bones. And, if you get the F.B.I.’s counterintelligence division coming after you, you’re likely going down and it’s going to hurt…a lot. It’s a clear indication that someone along the way figured Fearless Leader, through his alleged ties with the Russians, posed a major threat to national security. Now that I’ve laid all that out and have your full attention, let’s step back just a bit. Other than a lot of explosive information from anonymous sources and the like, there wasn’t anything substantive in the NYT report. Although, that’s not particularly unusual in counterintelligence stuff. The juicy bits are held close to the vest until such time as they drag you handcuffed and in your underwear out the front door of your house at 3AM. According to NYT, the F.B.I.’s criminal and counterintelligence investigations on Fearless Leader have been handed over to Mueller. What they contain and where the fingers point likely won’t be known until Mueller’s final report is released. Which, by the way, according to the Ghoul Giuliani, the White House should be able to read and edit before it goes to Congress. Really? This gets creepier as it goes along. Seriously, Nixon (he is dead still, right?) could have taken lessons from Fearless Leader’s thugs. Now, the White House, within mere minutes of the NYT’s story release, issued the following statement from Sarah “Colonel” Huckabee-Sanders: “This is absurd,” the statement read. “James Comey was fired because he’s a disgraced partisan hack and his deputy Andrew McCabe who was in charge at the time is a known liar fired by the FBI. Unlike President Obama who let Russia and other foreign adversaries push America around, President Trump has actually been tough on Russia.” Hmm, wonder who dictated that statement? Tough on Russia? Really? This after arbitrarily pulling U.S. Forces out of Syria to the decidedly public delight of Vlad “the Poot” Putin? This after forcing the easing of sanctions against a Russian oligarch accused of tampering with U.S. elections in 2016? Yeah, Fearless Leader has the Russians quivering in their jackboots. Stand by Shipmates, it’s going to be a long weekend! That is all! Comments are closed.
