Friends, relax, it’s Friday. You’ve survived another week full of high drama and possible felonies coming out of Washington, D.C. Have you ever seen such nonsense in your life? At least not since the Clinton fiasco back in the late 90’s, I bet. First there was all the stuff with the Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court. Fearless Leader managed to get a trade deal done with Mexico and Canada, making him (in his words) the greatest president ever in the history of the world! And then it’s all capped off by that orange fool lumbering up the stairs to board Air Force One where he is videoed with a length of toilet paper stuck to the heel of his left shoe. It was all so reminiscent of Sheriff Buford T. Justice (played by Jackie Gleason) in “Smokey and the Bandit” when he left a truck stop bathroom with toilet paper hanging off his shoe. Of course, we here at The Compound we’re bracing for high drama and likely felonies as the annual siege by various spiritualist groups descend on us in an attempt to communicate with the ghost of Temple Houston at the Cabinet Saloon replication on the north lawn. So far, the turnout has been sparse. There are a bunch of Burning Man refugees who drifted in from the highway late last night. This is a somewhat different bunch than we had last year. Probably recruited by Cousin Fred during this year’s Burning Man festival. They have their tents set up on the south side of the Main House. We have yet to hear from the elderly Buick princesses, though I’m certain they’ll show sometime late today or tomorrow. They’re officially known of course as the Secret Ladies Society for the Study of Earthly Psychic Occult Phenomena (SLSSEPOP). They wouldn’t miss the opportunity. Cousin Fred said he got a call from that bunch of gator heads, the Florida gator cult adorned in dried gator skulls. They make weird snorting sounds upon greeting one another first thing in the morning. They’ll be here first thing in the morning, in time for breakfast. Great, gator heads to feed. Let’s see, have I left anyone out? Oh yeah, the group of madcap Fijians called to let us know they aren’t coming this year. That’s a relief. There may be others, who knows? We’ll just see. In the meantime, I have officers from four different law enforcement agencies parked out on the road to keep an eye on us. Swell. They were the ones who burned the Cabinet Saloon replication to the ground last year. Bet they’ll try again this year. Punks. All of this going on around here because there is a chance, a slight chance mind you that the ghost of Temple Houston will make an appearance. Well, hopefully he’ll be better behaved than an apparent ghost in Louisiana this past Wednesday who is tormenting a poor fellow there and planting drugs in his residence for the police to find. So, the 59-year-old man (hereafter known as Casper) dialed 911 to inform police that something had “stabbed” him in the head with an ax. The cops didn’t have anything better to do so they rolled on the call finding Casper okay with no obvious ax wounds to the head. While they were talking with him, Casper became increasingly agitated to the point that he began cursing at the cops and others he said were inside his house. Spoiler alert: the cops found no one. Casper said it was because they were crawling out the windows. The cops saw no one going out the windows. Ah ha…the old invisible entities crawling out of the windows routine! See where this is headed? But wait, there’s more. While searching the residence for the invisible ones, the cops investigate a paper bag on the nightstand that they swear was in plain sight (their story and they’re sticking to it). Guess what they found inside the bag? Yep, meth. Casper begins an immediate rap that it was obviously planted there by the ghosts in the house, before they crawled out the windows. As hard as it may be to believe the cops didn’t buy the story and arrested Casper on a charge of possession of a dangerous controlled substance and making a false report to police. Poor Casper, he just can’t catch a break. That is all! Comments are closed.
